Ethel Raye Reid Grun, 87, of the Moro community, went home to be with her Lord on February 7, 2025 at Central Texas Nursing Home. A funeral service is scheduled for 2pm, Sunday, February 9, 2025 at the Bluff Creek Cowboy Church. Ethel's son Marcy will be officiating, directed by Fry-Smith Funeral Home, Tuscola. A visitation will be held from 5 to 7pm on Saturday, February 8th at the funeral home.
Ethel was born on July 8, 1937 to E.J. and Minnie (Shaffer) Reid in the Moro community in the home she continued to live in until her fall in May. Ethel attended school at South Taylor County. She met and married Russell Marcullus Grun on August 9, 1957. Through their union, they had two sons. While raising their boys, she worked at Drys Manufacturing in Winters, Texas and then would come home and do what she loved the most which was farming and raising cattle. When not doing that, she enjoyed cooking the best meals and desserts.
At an early age, Ethel accepted Jesus as her Savior and attended Moro Baptist Church. She was a member of Bluff Creek Cowboy Church.
Ethel is survived by her sons, Marcullus Ray (Marcy) and wife Judy, of Moro, and Russell Dwayne, and wife Vonda, of Lubbock; six grandkids, Amy Landers (Jamie), Angie Arledge (Travis), Dusty Grun (Jodee), Gena Wright (Nathan), Alicia Sims (Travis), Kirsten Tripp (Brandon), and ten amazing great-grandkids that she loved to take care of the most, and sister, Leola Allmand (JW).
Ethel was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and four of her siblings; Clyde and Vernon Reid, Josie (Reid) Hicks, and her twin sister Ellen Faye (Reid) Walters.
Pallbearers for Ethel are Brazos Tuff, Riggin, and Haze Grun, Reid Arledge, and Zane Crisp.
Honorary Pallbearers are Jamie Landers, Travis Arledge, Dusty Grun, Nathan Wright, Travis Sims, Brandon Tripp, Brenham Pemberton, and Rob Julian.
