Ethel Roberta Hurst

Ethel Roberta Hurst, born on May 19, 1933, passed away peacefully on May 29, 2025, at the age of 92. A cherished mother, grandmother, and friend, Ethel leaves behind a legacy of love and a passion for lifelong learning. She is survived by her daughters, Dawna Edwards, Karen Fogas, and Vickie Kitzke, her son, Dennis Clegg, and an impressive array of grandchildren and great-grandchildren who will miss her dearly.
Ethel had an insatiable curiosity and a love for learning that was truly inspiring. She immersed herself in everything from philosophy to history and was particularly proud of earning her certification as a drug and alcohol counselor, paving the way for her to serve as the director of a rehab program in Coeur d'Alene. After retiring, Ethel continued to explore her creative side, mastering intricate basket weaving techniques and producing beautiful pieces of art that reflected her vibrant spirit.
Though not religious, Ethel held a deep faith throughout her life that shaped her perspectives and relationships. Her pride in her family and her desire to help others were at the core of who she was. She touched the lives of many with her kindness, wisdom, and ability to connect deeply with those around her. In her passing, she leaves behind a tapestry of memories that her family will honor and cherish for years to come.
Ethel will be remembered for her endless pursuit of knowledge, her artistic spirit, and the love she shared with everyone lucky enough to know her. Cremation will take place on June 3, 2025, in Kennewick, WA. Family and friends are invited to celebrate Ethel's life and legacy in a gathering that will reflect her warmth and legacy.
