Ethel Riser Obituary Ethel M. Riser, a cherished resident of New Cumberland, peacefully passed away at the age of 75 on Thursday, July 3, 2025, at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh after a brief illness. Born in East Liverpool on February 3, 1950, Ethel was the beloved daughter of the late Carl K. and Lela M. Runnion Riser. Her passion for education led her to become a special education teacher in the Hancock County School System, where she touched the lives of countless students. Ethel earned her teaching degree from West Liberty University after graduating from oak Glen High School, equipping her with the skills to inspire and uplift those she taught. In addition to her teaching career, Ethel was an accomplished coach, celebrated for her leadership as the head coach of the Oak Glen Girls Volleyball Team. Under her guidance, the team garnered several state championships, a testament to her dedication and expertise in the sport. Outside the classroom and volleyball court, Ethel had a lifelong love for horses, which inspired her work as a photographer at both Waterford Park and Mountaineer racetracks, capturing the beauty and excitement of the equestrian world. Ethel will be lovingly remembered by her family, including her son, Jarred Riser of Indiana, and her sister, Carla Crawford of New Cumberland. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Grace Riser. Ethel also leaves behind several nieces and great-nephews who will cherish her memory. Private family interment services will be held at the serene Locust Hill Cemetery. The arrangements for her services are being handled with care by Arner Funeral Chapel, ensuring that Ethel's legacy is honored with the respect and love she so richly deserved.
