Ethel Elaine (Vanderpool) Vanderpool, 86, of Lyon Station, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, September 3, 2025 in her residence. She was the loving wife of Francis J. Vanderpool whom she married on August 6, 1960.
Born in Sayre, Bradford County, PA, Ethel was a daughter of the late Lamont and Catherine (Wells) Vanderpool and was Methodist in faith. Ethel was a homemaker who took great pride in taking care of her home and dedicated herself to her family. She loved to read and travel with her husband and daughter. She also enjoyed tending to her beautiful flower gardens and loved raising her two pet squirrels, Squirmy and Little One along with her cats.
Along with her husband of 65 years, Francis, Ethel is survived by her daughter, Janet M. (Vanderpool), widow of Allen F. King, Fleetwood; and sisters, Doris A. (Vanderpool) Orth, Kutztown and Donna M. Vanderpool, companion of Ron Kreibel, Lyons; and was predeceased by siblings, Paul, Lyle, Dick, Ernie, Butch, Bobby, Jack, Albert, Linda and Gail.
A funeral service to celebrate and honor Ethel's life will be held on Saturday, September 13, 2025 at 10:30 a.m. in Ludwick Funeral Homes and Cremation Care, Inc., 333 Greenwich Street, Kutztown, PA. Burial will follow in Berks County Memorial Gardens, Fleetwood. Relatives and friends are invited to a viewing from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home.
In honor of Ethel's love for reading, contributions may be sent in her memory to Kutztown Community Library, 70 Bieber Alley, Kutztown, PA 19530.
