Ethi O. Flores, 92, passed away on Saturday, November 16, 2024.
Ethi was born in Colonia Dublán, Chihuahua, Mexico on June 17, 1932 to José and Elena Ontiveros. Ethi was a loving wife, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She lived a life filled with devotion to her family, crafts, and the many people she touched along the way.
Ethi married her love of her life, Ruben Flores, on August 9, 1960, and together they raised three children, creating a home of warmth, love, laughter.
Ethi had many passions throughout her life, including quilting, sewing, crocheting, baking. Her was confectioning stunning wedding cakes. She cherished a spotless home, meticulously cleaning from one corner to another. Her love of nature lead her diligently care for her plants, flowers, and shrubbery by making sure they were weeded, pruned, and watered. Her compassionate spirit was always noted in giving to those in need; a meal, a treat, a small gift, a card or anything that could uplift another’s spirit. She enjoyed many festive events: Christmas parties, Birthday parties, Wedding receptions, you name them; she loved them all and attended as many as she could.
Ethi was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she faithfully served in numerous callings, including a mission in Guatemala. Her spirit of strength and resilience were remarkable. Ethi faced life’s challenges with faith and determination, always putting the needs of other before her own. Her family will forever remember her as kind, loving, and compassionate matriarch who was deeply devoted to those she loved.
Ethi is preceded in death by her father, mother, grandparents, her sister, and many other loved ones. She is survived by her three children: Elizabeth F. Johnson, Ruben F. Jr. and Irma F. Sotelo (Frank), five grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
Ethi will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her legacy of love, workmanship, and family devotion will live in the hearts of all who were touched by her.
A Visitation will take place from 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM, with a Eulogy at 6:00 PM, Monday, November 25, 2024 at Sunset Funeral Homes -East, 750 N. Carolina. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, November 26, 2024 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1212 Sumac Drive, El Paso, TX. Interment will follow at 1:00 PM at Fort Bliss National Cemetery.
