Etoy Jackson, born on July 3, 1948, in Helena, Arkansas to Mose and Lillie Smith Jackson, passed away on March 15, 2026, at the St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. He lived a full life marked by dedication, kindness, and connection with those around him.

At the age of ten, Etoy relocated to Chicago, Illinois, where he attended public schools before furthering his education at a Community College in River Grove, Illinois. He earned an associate degree in Industrial Management, preparing him for a long and successful career. For 36 years, he worked at AT&T, showing commitment and reliability that defined much of his professional life.

A proud veteran, Etoy served in the United States Army from 1968 to 1971. During his service, he earned the National Defense Service Medal, the Sharpshooter Badge, and received an honorable discharge. His time in the military was an important chapter in his life, reflecting his sense of duty and honor.

Known for his friendly and genuine nature, Etoy was a loving and dependable person who valued family and community. He had a knack for storytelling, always speaking honestly and never sugarcoating his thoughts. This authenticity made him not only someone who could be relied upon but also a genuinely kind and compassionate friend to many.

Etoy’s personal life was filled with love and joy. On March 25, 2017, he married Greta Simpson in Chicago, Illinois. Their relationship was one of true partnership—he was the best husband to Greta, someone she could always count on without worry. Family meant everything to Etoy, whether it was spending time with loved ones or enjoying simple pleasures like gardening, fishing and baking. He especially loved making cookies, pies, and his famous pound cake—treats that brought smiles to those around him.

His favorite hat, which read "caution grumpy old man," was a charming trait that friends and family fondly remember. Beyond his close circle, Etoy was an active member of his community. He enjoyed being involved locally, particularly as a member of the Lions Club in Charleston, Missouri. His faith was important to him as well, and he was a member of Gateway Church in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, where he followed the guidance of Pastors Ben and Rose Porter.

Etoy leaves behind memories of a life well-lived, full of warmth, generosity, and authenticity. He was a devoted father and grandfather who cared deeply for others and lived with a quiet strength that touched everyone he met. His legacy will continue through the stories shared and the love he gave so freely during his time with us.

A visitation will be held Sunday, March 22, 2026 from 1:30 P.M. to 2:30 P.M. at the Williams Funeral Chapel in Charleston, Missouri with his pastors, Ben and Rose Porter of Gateway Church of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, in attendance.

A visitation will also be held at Woodlawn Funeral Home located at 7750 West Cermak Road in Forest Park, Illinois on Friday, March 27, 2026 at 1:30 P.M. until the funeral hour of 2:30 P.M. Interment will be Monday, March 30, 2026 at 12:30 P.M. at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, Illinois with full military honors.
