EDWARDS, Etta – of Whittemore, age 83, went peacefully to Heaven on Monday, May 5, 2025, at Cranberry Park of Clio. Honoring her wishes, cremation will take place. A Celebration of Life will be held at 2PM on Saturday, May 31, 2025, at the First Baptist Church of Mt. Morris - 800 Louisa St., in Mt. Morris. Pastor Kevin Dixson officiating.
Etta was born January 28, 1942, in West Branch, to the late Clarence and Myrtle (Nichols) Nickell. She attended Whittemore High School and worked at Johnson Control for many years until her retirement. Etta proudly owned a ceramic business in Corunna, and taught painting and ceramic lessons to many in her community. She married her beloved husband, Merle Edwards, and together they created a beautiful life. Merle preceded Etta in death. She shared 17 wonderful years with the love of her life, Jim Stroud. Etta was a lover of food – especially deserts and she loved making meals for her family and friends. She had a green thumb and enjoyed being outdoors gardening. Etta was recognized in the local newspaper for her flower garden and her house was known as the "White Wonderland" at Christmas time. Above all, Etta loved her family and cherished every moment she shared with them. She was an incredible woman who can never be replaced, and she will be dearly missed.
Etta is forever remembered by: Children: Rhonda (Kenneth) Babcock, Robin (Greg) Mann, Kathy Horton, and Donald Head; Grandchildren: Elizabeth (Chris), Kendra (Cody), Holly (Matt), Stephanie (Sean), Kyle, Bryce, Brandon (Ellie), and Emily (Mike); Great Grandchildren: Christian, Faith, Brooke, Ryan, Griffin, Aedan, Gavin, Kyle, Jr., Mackenzie, Adriana, Reese, Bethany, Theodore, Carley, and Kayla; Great-Great Granddaughter due 2025, Anaisa Elizabeth; Sisters: Dorothy, Esther, and Pearl; Partner, Jim Stroud; Lifelong friend, Liz Holland. Etta was preceded in death by: Husband, Merle; Beloved Grandson, Asher Potter; Parents, Clarence and Myrtle; Siblings: Calvin, Alvin, Bill, Bob, Clarence, Sylvia, Goldie, Tom, Lucille, Ethan, Earl, and Roy.
