Euford Earl Herring, 77, passed away on January 30, 2026 surrounded by his family after a lengthy illness. He was more affectionately referred to as E by friends and family.
He was born in Sendai, Japan March 8, 1948 to Master Sgt. J.V Herring and Willie Mae Shiver Herring. Growing up, he spent his time in
Malone, FL and Fort Campbell, KY. He was a proud graduate of Fort Campbell High School '65 and earned his Bachelors from the University of Maryland. He was a veteran of the US Army with the rank of Captain after serving his country 15 years, primarily at Fort Rucker and Fort Benning with tours in Japan and Korea.
E retired from AT&T after 20 years as a Sr. Contract and Sourcing Specialist. He began his career in Yellow Page Sales, then worked in the Construction Department in Savannah until transferring to Atlanta. He was a member of CWA Local 3220 and Telephone Pioneers of America.
He was an avid sports fan who loved the Atlanta Braves and the Georgia Bulldogs. His true passion, however, was youth sports. Over many years, E coached countless baseball, softball, basketball, and football teams, eventually serving multiple consecutive terms as President of the Collins Hill Athletic Association in Suwanee, GA.
E is survived by his wife of 37 years, Theresa Barnes Herring of
Savannah, Ga., his son Michael Shane Herring of Valdosta, GA, his stepson Alan Langford (Suzanne) of Beaufort, SC, his brother, Alford Herring (Marie), three sisters, Lyndia Fowler, Brenda Herring, and Wanda Cox (David), eight grandchildren, Sarah Herring Bell (Charlie), Andrew Herring, Hannah Herring, Gracie Johnson (Joey), Bradley Herring, Eli Herring, Margaret Langford, and Zachary Langford (Halli), two great grandchildren, Lily Johnson and Nolan Langford, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in Death by his parents, J. V. and Willie Mae Herring, his son,
Jonathan Herring, and his brothers, Crawford Herring, Harold Herring, and Don Herring.
The family will receive friends for a Celebration of Life at a later date.
