Eugene F. "Gene" Beck, 95, died February 22, 2025, at Credo Senior Living, Hoisington, Kansas. He was born July 10, 1929, in Redwing, Kansas, the son of Frank and Marie (Klug) Beck.
A longtime Hoisington resident, Gene was a self-employed contract pumper in the oil field. He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus Council #1521, and the American Legion Post #286.
Gene's favorite pastimes included fishing, playing horseshoes, bowling, bird watching and watching his favorite sports teams. Family functions were what he treasured most and where he would often end up singing and playing the piano.
On November 27, 1950, he married Lillian M. Urban in Hoisington, Kansas. She preceded him in death on April 8, 2004.
He is survived by four children; Marlene Beck of Great Bend, Allan Beck and wife Anne of Claflin, Ron Beck and wife Susan of Derby, Randy Beck and wife Daphne of Great Bend; two sisters, Betty Steiner and husband Kenny of Hoisington, and Kathy Thompson of Conroe, Texas; 9 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, brother, Elmer "Al" Beck, and sisters, Bernice Christopher, Elma Stricker, and Helen Urban.
Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., Monday with family to greet friends, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Vigil with Knights of Columbus Rosary will begin at 7 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m., Tuesday, February 25, 2025, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, celebrated by Father Warren Stecklein. Burial will follow in St. John Catholic Cemetery, Hoisington, Kansas.
Memorials may be made to Gentiva Hospice or Kans for Kids in care of Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home, PO Box 146, Hoisington, KS 67544.
