Eugene Cropley Obituary

He was born on November 2, 1933, in North Bancroft, Maine, a son of Harold and Thelma (Raye) Cropley. He graduated from MCI belonging to the class of 1953 and proudly served our country in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War.
Gene loved the outdoors. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, snowmobile trips, sitting on his front porch, and spending summers up to camp on Morrill Pond. He and Lieselotte loved cruising the lake in their pontoon boat, making wonderful memories at their special spot. He was a long time member of the Universalist Church and always enjoyed the Welcome Table. He was a frequent visitor at Vittles and always liked walking around his home town.
He is survived by his children: Danial Cropley and wife Virginia, David Cropley and wife Gail, Karen Holmes, and Tim Cropley and wife Susan Thayer; grandchildren: Jason and wife Pon, Roberto, Alison, Lisa and husband Scott, Maria and husband Eric, Michael and wife Sadie, and Bryce and wife Jennifer; 11 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great grandchildren; brother, Ora Cropley and wife Tori; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He will especially be missed by his Golden Retriever, Ruby.
He was predeceased by his loving wife, Lieselotte; his grandson, Trafton; and two brothers: Arland and wife Lorraine and Norman and wife Darlene.
The family would like to express their gratitude to Northern Light Hospice and to Kathy Kelley for the wonderful care and compassion given to their dad.
The family will receive friends from 1-3 p.m., Sunday, September 15, 2024, at the Shorey-Nichols Funeral Home, 191 Hartland Ave., Pittsfield. A committal with military honors will immediately follow at the Village Cemetery, Peltoma Ave., Pittsfield, with Julianne Bousquet officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Northern Light Hospice, PO Box 679, Portland, ME, 04104.
