JANESVILLE--- Eugene Roy Davis, age 87, of Janesville, died on Tuesday, Oct. 20, 2009, at home following a long fight with cancer. He was born in Spanish Fork, UT on Aug. 7, 1922, the son of Roy P. and Mary (Graves) Davis. He served in the US Marines during World War II and married June Mathews on Jan. 2, 1948. Gene attended the University of Southern California and received a degree in engineering. He was employed by General Motors as an executive until his retirement in 1987. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and held many leadership callings, twice serving as Lay Minister. He was active in the Boy Scout program and after his retirement served as a Teacher's Aide for the Habitat for Humanity. The thing he enjoyed most was spending time with his family and was instrumental in helping raise four of his grandchildren. Gene is survived by his wife, June; daughter, Linda Little of Janesville; 2 sons, Donald (Kathy) Davis of Irvine, CA and Robert (Cherie) Davis of Orem, UT; 6 grandchildren: Debra Little, Lisa (Jake) Treadway, David (Melissa) Little, Thomas (Gina) Little, Ryan Davis and R. Alan Davis; 2 step grandchildren, Elaine and William; 4 great grandchildren: Reed Little, Hunter Little, Stella Little and Madison Treadway; 2 brothers, A. Don (Darlene) Davis of St. Georgia, UT and Burton Davis of Murray, UT; 2 sisters, Dortha Weight of Murray, UT and Nelda Tolsma of West Haven, UT; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, John Franklin Little; 2 brothers; and 7 sisters. A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 23, 2009, at the CHURCH OF JESUS CHRIST OF LATTER DAY SAINTS, 3001 N. Wright Rd., Janesville, with Bishop Jake Buchanan officiating. A visitation will be held on Friday from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at the church. Interment will be in Milton Lawns Memorial Park. SCHNEIDER APFEL SCHNEIDER & SCHNEIDER FUNERAL HOME is assisting the family.
