Eugene Dearing Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Lynch Funeral Service - Greenville on Mar. 19, 2026.
Eugene Ray Dearing, age 81, passed away on March 18, 2026. He was born on March 17, 1945, in Altus, Oklahoma, to Willis and Martha (Miller) Dearing.

Eugene was truly a jack of all trades, a man who loved to learn and just as eagerly shared his knowledge with others. He earned a bachelor's degree in physics, seminary and engineering, reflecting both his intellectual curiosity and his deep faith. An ordained minister in the Missionary Baptist Church, Eugene's love for Jesus was evident in the way he lived his life and served others. Eugene served 27 years in the Airforce and National Guard.

He was a simple man at heart-one who believed in hard work, strong values, and doing things the right way. His work ethic was unwavering, and he took pride in providing for his family. In his quieter moments, he found joy in gardening, nurturing life from the soil just as he nurtured those around him.

Above all, Eugene loved his family dearly. His greatest devotion was to his beloved wife, Peggy Jean Dearing, and to the children, grandchildren, and generations that followed. His life was marked by deep love, steady guidance, and a legacy of faith and strength.

He is survived by his children: Dabney Bush, Tanya Norris and husband Gordon, Eric Dearing and wife Laurie, Greg Dearing and wife Leane, and Donald Barnes and wife Abby. He also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren: Kelsey Mangnall, Gaige Bush, Peyton Bush, Trevor Norris, Ashley Norris and husband Robbie, Zachary Dearing, Bethany Dearing, Michelle Dearing, Britany Atkins and husband Elbert, Zachary Dearing, Garrett Dearing, Tanner Dearing, Dylan Barnes, Shelby Barnes, Dominick Barnes, and Colton Barnes, along with many great-grandchildren.

Eugene is also survived by his siblings, Curtis Dearing and wife Donna, and Gail Streufert, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and a host of dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Willis and Martha (Miller) Dearing, and his deeply loved wife, Peggy Jean Dearing.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 24, at 10:30 a.m. at Emmanuel Missionary Baptist Church in Greenville, Texas. Funeral services will follow at 11:30 a.m. at the church. A graveside service will take place immediately following the funeral at Josephine Cemetery in Josephine, Texas.

Eugene Ray Dearing will be remembered as a faithful servant, a devoted husband and father, a hardworking man, and a humble soul whose life reflected love, faith, and quiet strength. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
