M. Eugene (Snookie) Dillard, 80, of 333 Francis Marion Drive, died Friday, August 15, 2008 at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. Born September 17, 1927, in Spartanburg County, he was the son of the late Clarence Edwin Dillard and Nannie Sue Cobb Dillard. He was a retired Salesman with Life Insurance Company of Georgia and a carrier for the Spartanburg Herald Journal for twenty eight years, a very active member of Trinity United Methodist Church for fifty two years and was a veteran of WW II serving in U. S. Navy. Mr. Dillard was a graduate of Spartanburg High School and Spartanburg Methodist College. He was a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather and friend to all who knew him. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Juanita Sawyer Dillard, two daughters, Leslie Traxler and husband, David of Spartanburg, Shannon Lewis and husband Gary of Spartanburg; five grandchildren, Mary Winston Traxler, Tyler Traxler, Garrett Traxler, Savanna Lewis and Emma Grace Lewis; a brother, Frank E. Dillard and wife, Patricia of Moore; and a host of nieces and nephews. Visitation will be 6:00 � 8:00 p.m. Sunday, August 17, 2008 at Floyd�s Greenlawn Chapel. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, August 18, 2008 at Trinity United Methodist Church, conducted by the Rev. T. Lee Bryant, the Rev. A. Mickey Fisher, and the Rev. Heather B. Humphries. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church, 626 Norwood Street, Spartanburg, SC 29302 or American Cancer Society, 154 Milestone Way, Greenville, SC 29615.
