Great memories from the seventies. I was the DPD salesman responsible for the MTA-NYC Transit Authority and there was an incentive to sell selectric typewriters between OPD and DPD. Gene and I worked on a proposal which involved a roll call application on a System 370 Computer using the selectric typewriter to do roll call in each of the 26 Transit police stations in the subway. At that time the NYC Transit Police was the 4th largest police force in the US behind number 1-NYC, 2-LA and 3 Chicago.

We both made good commissions on the project. However, the selectric typewriters had to be replaced many times because the steel brake dust from the iron wheels destroyed the electronics in the selectric typewriter.

We became great friends, both NY Giant fans and worked several deals together when Gene was at Forstmann-Leff. Gene was a terrific individual and will be missed.
