Eugene Hardrick

Eugene "Pop" Hardrick was born April 1, 1935 in Lumpkin, Georgia, son of the late Choice and Rosie Miller Hardrick. He attended the Stewart County Public Schools and was a member of Philadelphia Baptist Church in Lumpkin, Georgia. He lived in Newark, New Jersey before moving to Roselle 45 years ago. Eugene met and married Ruby Lee Scott they were joined in holy matrimony in 1958. He was as a Textile Knitter for Fablok Mills in Murray Hill, New Jersey for over 20 years. Eugene attended and successfully completed his Auto Mechanic Certification at Lincoln Technical Institute in Union. He worked for Shell Gas and purchased a Shell Gas station in Hillside. In 1979, Eugene decided to change his career and became a Truck Driver (Owner/Operator). He was employed with several companies including Container Port Group in Elizabeth for 22 years, before retiring in 2001. He was an avid fisherman and loved to take trips to Raceway Park in Englishtown. He was a huge fan of baseball. He and some of his friends played for a local team, "The Newark Angels." Eugene Hardrick departed this life on Friday, June 21, 2013 at the Delaire Nursing and Convalescent Center in Linden, New Jersey at the age of 78. He was predeceased by his brother Eddie B. Hardrick. Eugene leaves to cherish fond memories, his beloved wife of 54 years, Ruby Lee Hardrick; three sons, Maurice Hardrick (Patricia) of Antioch, Tennessee, Anthony and Andre Hardrick of Roselle; two daughters, Laronda Hardrick-Farrar (Allen) of Willingboro, New Jersey and Brenda Fay Williams (Arnold) of Preston, Georgia; sister, Lilla Mae Dixon of Rahway, New Jersey; sister-in-law, Melba Hardrick of Vauxhall, New Jersey; 14 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
