Eugene "Gene" P. Haywood, age 77, resident of Altmar, since 1967, passed away peacefully at his daughter, Cathy's home. Gene was born October 1, 1947, in Massena, the son of Earl and Marion Jerome Haywood. He was married to his wife of 44 years, Darlene Whaley Haywood on July 30, 1966, and she passed away April 28, 2011. Gene was employed at McAuliffe Paper Company in Liverpool for 45 years before retiring in 2023. He enjoyed gardening, woodworking and tinkering in his workshop.

Gene is survived by his children, Kelly Kaminsky of Altmar, Cathy (Skip) Trumble of Orwell, Gwen (Tim) Scott of Altmar and Brian Haywood (Ashley) of Altmar, seven grandchildren, Rodney, Erin, Alex, Jessica, Emily, Remington, and Autumn, 12 great-grandchildren, Tyler, Autumn, Ashlynn, Colley, Cassidy, Riley, Jayden, Emmett, Sawyer, Scarlett, Hudson and Adelynn, siblings, Kevin (Sue) Haywood of Central Square, Zona (Gene) Oakes of South Carolina, Terry (Heidi) Haywood of Richland, Daryl (Tracy) Haywood of Norfolk, NY, and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. Gene was predeceased by one granddaughter, Nicole Lyons, great-granddaughter, Everly Bush, and brothers, Floyd, Dale, Bob and Bruce Haywood and sister Sharon Horning.

Funeral services will be held, 10 a.m., Friday, September 26th at Foster-Hax Funeral Home, 52 Park Street, Pulaski with a burial in Riverside Cemetery, Altmar. Calling hours will be held from 4 to 7 p.m., Thursday at the funeral home.
