Very authentic man! Still missed!

I was deeply saddened to hear of Eugene's passing. His sister-in-law was at the place I work at a few weeks ago. I asked her how he was. She stopped and said he passed away about 15 months ago. I was stunned he was always a very nice man. I'll tell you how I met him and came to the best pizza place EVER. In 1979/1980 my sister and I were driving home from work and we were a wee bit hungry. I said "I'll pull in here (14 and Ryan) and we can get a piece of pizza". My sister said "I want my own piece". Together we scrounged up 78 cents. (this was 1979/1980) We went in with quite a few coins and asked the man at the counter(Eugene) how much 2 slices were he said "Whatever you have in your hand" I replied "I only have .78 cents and each piece is 50 cents(again 1979/1980) each-we will just take one, could you please cut it in half" "Sure" he said. We paid the 52 cents (plus tax) and went to the car. I told my sister this pizza must be loaded with cheese, the bag was a little heavy. I opened that bag and there were two slices wrapped in those aluminum foil squares. I told my sister we can't take this we did not pay for it. I went back in and he had a huge smile on his face. I started to say "We only paid......" Eugene stopped me and said "I want you each to have a slice. You will love it and be a customer for life". We are my whole family. Aunts, Uncles, cousins, 2nd cousins, in-laws, outlaws. Everywhere I have traveled by car, there is a large pizza or two in the car with us. Breakfast, lunch and dinner for a couple days. I have spread the word about Jett's from Maine, Florida and Arizona and everywhere in between. I have never forgotten the kindness of a very nice man who owned a delicious pizza store. We ordered pizza every Friday night for years at that 14 & Ryan location. We have 2 with in 5 mile here in Macomb. God rest your soul Eugene!

Our hearts are truly broken to hear of Eugene's passing. We will forever smile thinking of all the great hockey memories we had together. God Bless you Nelinda & your family.

Very sorry to hear of Eugene's passing. I have some great memories of when we went hunting, and a trip to Vegas. Always had a great time when I was around him. Did not seen him for a long time, but always remembered and shared those good memories with others. He will be missed! My deepest sympathy to Melinda and the family.

Eugene was a very caring man and wished every franchisee well. He knew everyone by name and genuinely wanted every one of us to succeed! It was an honor to have know this kind and compassionate man. He will be missed. Prayers to all his family and friends.

We are so sorry for your loss Jett's family, we only met Mr. Jett's one time this past summer and my husband and I really like him and his wife so much, such a down to earth couple. Bryan and Dawn Craddock

I am so sad to hear this news. My sincere condolences to the family. Gene was an amazing guy with a huge heart and the world has lost a great man, an entrepreneur, and leader.

Eugene was a an all around great man. He was extremely funny, a great entrepreneur, and most of all a great family man. He was one of a kind and will truly be missed. He gave me opportunities and I'll always be forever grateful. My condolences and prayers are with his wonderful family and close friends of this great man.
