On August 19, 2025 Eugene "Gene" Kruempel passed away at is home. He went to meet the love of his life, Judy whom he missed dearly, in heaven. They are together again.
Gene was born on January 16, 1935 in Wabasha, MN. At a young age he came to live in St. Charles.
He attended and graduated from St. Charles High School. It was at school that he met his future wife, Judy. High school sweethearts, Gene and Judy were married on June 18, 1955 in St. Charles, MN. This is where they would make their home for the next 70 years. Gene worked at IBM for 31 years before retiring. During his time at IBM, in the 70's, he learned he was losing his sight.
Judy and Gene raised six kids. Michael (Laurie) Kruempel, Pamela (Ken) Hulse, Patricia (Kyle) Kieffer, Paula (Dave) Braun, Penny (Steve) Sobczak, and Kathryn (Eric) Ask.
Gene enjoyed singing; he was always singing! He had a wonderful and powerful voice. He also liked camping with his family, starting off with five kids in a tent, and later moving on to a camper, then a motorhome. After all the kids were out of the house, Gene and Judy bought a 32-foot motorhome and with Judy driving they toured around MN, IA and WI. Gene also loved to go fishing and had his own boat until his vision left. He enjoyed coin collecting; where all his kids helped at some time. He had quite a massive collection. He especially liked spending time with Judy and the "500 card club," not only playing cards but taking trips and cruises as a group. He was a big fan of the MN Twins and MN Vikings, and a long-time member of the St. Charles Lions Club.
In the last few years he enjoyed fishing with Kyle, visiting with his kids and grandkids, going out to eat, reminiscing with family, and visiting on the phone with his "best friend" from 6th grade, Kenny Babcock.
He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in St. Charles.
He his survived by his children, many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He is joined in heaven by his wife Judy, brother Beryl, sister Joyce and grandson Tyler.
