Eugene "Gene" Lang passed away peacefully at his home in Nowthen, Minnesota, on August 5, 2025, at the age of 84. Born on October 20, 1940, on the family farm north of Olivia, Minnesota, Gene lived a life rooted in kindness, hard work, and deep love for his family. In 1965, Gene married Arlene Schack. Though they later divorced, they remained close friends until her passing in 2012. Gene is survived by his only child, daughter Brenda Lang Strickhausen, and her husband Danny O. Strickhausen; as well as two beloved grandchildren, Craig Brandon Carlson and Ashley Marie Carlson (fiancé Kaleb Wilson). He is also survived by his brothers and their spouses, Samuel and Lila Lang of Fosston, MN, Bob and Mary (Amberg) Lang of Minnetonka, MN, LeRoy and Kathy Lang of Winthrop, MN, David and Lori Lang of Danube, MN. Gene is also lovingly remembered by dozens of nieces and nephews, each of whom held a special place in his heart. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Leona Johnson, Esther Hanson, Lillian Bratsch, Alice Pederson, Mary Nina Serbus, and Katie Scholla; and his brothers, Arthur Lang and Harvey Lang. Gene enjoyed the outdoors and spent many joyful years hunting, camping, and fishing. He especially cherished his annual trips to Wyoming, Montana, and Texas to visit Brenda and his grandchildren, creating lasting memories filled with laughter and love. Professionally, Gene worked at Honeywell before joining Kurt Manufacturing, where he dedicated over 30 years of service until his retirement in early 2011. He was known for his strong work ethic and unwavering reliability. Above all, Gene will be remembered for his kind heart and generous spirit. He was always willing to lend a hand to anyone in need, never asking for anything in return. His warm, unforgettable hugs were a source of comfort and love to all who knew him. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 20, at Washburn-McReavy Coon Rapids Chapel, 1827 Coon Rapids Blvd. NW, Coon Rapids. A welcome hour will begin at 1:00 PM, followed by the service at 2:00 PM. Brenda, Danny, Brandon and Ashley would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the caregivers, neighbors, and friends who supported him in his later years. His legacy of kindness, humility, and quiet strength will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. Though he may be gone from our sight, Gene's gentle spirit and the love he shared will remain with us always.
