August 4, 2025 - We mourn the passing of Eugene Loomis on August 4th. Born on February 15, 1950, Eugene was an accomplished educator and car enthusiast who left a lasting impact on many throughout his career.
Eugene taught industrial arts at the New York State School for the Blind until 2005 also taught driver education at numerous local schools until 2019. Throughout his career, he shared his passion for craftsmanship and driving safety with countless students and made a lasting impact on their lives. He was a lifelong resident of Warsaw, NY where he knew many of the people in the village by first name.
Beyond teaching, Eugene was an avid collector of classic cars, particularly American Bantam and Willis Jeepster models. He was a member of clubs for both cars for many years, contributing stories and technical knowledge for those vehicles.
Eugene is survived by his two brothers, James (Judith) and William (Barbara), who will be forever grateful for their brother's love, guidance, and dedication. He is predeceased by his parents, Ralph and Grace Loomis and his sister Mary-Ellen Marti. In honor of Eugene, we remember him as a loving family man, an exceptional educator in industrial arts, and a passionate car collector who left his mark on the world in many ways.
Eugene Loomis will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His memory will live on through those he taught, loved, and inspired throughout his life.
Eugene’s memorial service will be held Friday, August 15th at 1pm at Robinson And Hackemer Funeral Home, 246 N. Main St., Warsaw, NY. Burial will take place in Warsaw Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Genesee County Animal Shelter in Batavia, NY.
