Obituary of Eugene Schneider

Eugene Schneider (Gene) passed away on September 3rd, 2025, at the age of 95 at his home in Eden Prairie, Mn. He was born at home on March 22nd, 1930 in Hopkins, Mn to John and Margaret (Mason) Schneider.

Gene graduated from Hopkins High School in 1948 where he played football, basketball, and track. He graduated from St. Cloud State in 1953, where he was later inducted into the athletic hall of fame. He served two years in the US army after graduating from college, after which he worked in the commercial and industrial lighting field, eventually joining a manufacturers agency as an owner, which represented over two dozen companies nationwide. He was a member of St. Gabriel's church, the Hopkins Elks club, and the Hopkins Jaycees, where he served as an officer and on many committees. Gene loved hunting, fishing, golf, card playing, and volunteering.

Gene was preceded in death by his parents, brother Ray Schneider, sisters Grace Peteler and Lorraine Skoglund, and special friend Barb Woody. He is survived by sister Nancy Tschimperle, children Nancy Pruett (Ron), Mike Schneider (Amy), and Jan Samuel (Jeb); grandchildren Elizabeth, Katie, Charlotte, Lesley, Martin, Elliot, and Ruby. Also survived by the mother of his children, Mary Schneider.

Mass of Christian Burial Friday, October 3rd at 11 am at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 13505 Excelsior Blvd, Minnetonka, Mn; visitation one hour prior to service. Memorials preferred to Catholic Charities and St. Cloud State Alumni Association. Private Interment at St. Margaret's cemetery.
