Eugene Stidham

Big Stone Gap, VA – Eugene Stidham, 78, passed away on Wednesday, December 6, 2023, at his home. He was born in Keokee, VA and lived most of his life in Big Stone Gap. He was a retired repairman/electrician with Westmoreland Coal Company with over 30 years of service and a member of the U.M.W.A. He loved NASCAR, fishing and working on cars. He was of the Christian faith.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Linda Fultz Stidham; son, Jimmy Stidham; great granddaughter, Zoe Lin Durham; mother, Virginia Stidham Hazelwood; brother, Roger Lee Hazelwood; sister, Janie Hazelwood Hensley and his maternal grandparents, James and Flora Stidham.
Eugene is survived by his children, Janice Adams (Ken) of Big Stone Gap, VA, Daniel Stidham (fiancé, Charlotte Lovell) of Appalachia, VA, Chris Stidham (Donna) of Heber Springs, AR, Shannon Stidham (Mary) of Big Stone Gap, VA and daughter-in-law, Kim Stidham of Olinger, VA; his siblings, Michael Hazelwood of Big Stone Gap, Joseph Hazelwood (Vickie) of Appalachia, VA, Richard Hazelwood (Renau) of Appalachia, VA, Mary Ann Walthall (Doug) of Appalachia, VA and Sandy Ramey of Big Stone Gap, VA; 15 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, December 10, 2023, from 1:00-2:00pm at Gilliam Funeral Home, 618 Wood Ave. W., Big Stone Gap, VA. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00pm in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Robert Fultz, Jr. officiating. Graveside services will follow at Riverview Cemetery, Big Stone Gap, VA. Sons and grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
