Eugene Williams Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Circle of Life Funeral Home on Mar. 16, 2026.
Eugene H. Williams, affectionately known as Gene, was born on September 26, 1931, in Brooklyn, New York. Eugene was a dedicated, hardworking family man. He maintained two jobs so that his wife could stay at home to raise their daughter, and five sons which included a set of triplet boys. Throughout his life, Eugene was a creative soul with a witty sense of humor that brought joy to everyone around him. His quick wit and funny anecdotes were a constant source of light and laughter, making every family gathering memorable.

A proud Marine Sergeant, Eugene served his country with honor and was the recipient of several distinguished awards, including the Korean Service Medal with Stars, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, and the Good Conduct Medal. Eugene also took great pride in his long career with the United States Postal Service, a career path in which his triplet sons followed. He often shared stories from his time at the post office, reflecting both his strong work ethic and the pride he took in the work he did. Despite his many achievements, he remained humble and personable, always ready to spend time with those he loved.

Eugene was a man whose interests were as vibrant as his personality. He was an avid coin collector, a hobby that sparked many conversations and stories, and he was a devoted baseball fan. He also enjoyed horse racing, and his excitement was evident whenever he spoke about his favorite races. His creative side shone through in the poetry he wrote and in the way he beautifully captured moments through photography.

Above all, Eugene was incredibly proud of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, cherishing every moment spent with them. After retirement one of his greatest joys was being a hands-on grandfather. Picking up his granddaughters from school, and caring for them. His grandchildren were the apple of his eye. So he always made sure his freezer was stocked with icees and his cabinet had all their favorite snacks, readily available for when they visited.

Eugene loved telling stories, and he continued sharing vivid, and often hilarious memories with his family all the way through his final years, recollecting them with remarkable sharpness even at the age of 94.

Eugene is survived by his sons Darrell, Farrell, Harold, Eugene Jr., and Kenneth Sr.; his grandchildren Janel, Janeen, Devon, Kashmere, Kendah, Kenneth Jr., Kahlil, Corey, Cortney, Darrell Jr., Michael, Dominique, Zakiya, Harold Jr., Zatoka, Destiny, Jarrell, Ramon, and Zaquana; his 19 great-grandchildren, including Chastity, Seth, Samuel, Xavier, Gabriel, Cohen, Jaiden, Jasmine, Kamahri, Kamryn, Courtney, Yasmin, and Colin; and his great-great-grandson Luka.

He was preceded in death by his father, Benjamin Williams; his mother, Julia Warren; his siblings, Robert, Edith, and Bessie; his beloved wife, Daisy Williams; and his daughter, Harriet Christina High.

Eugene's life was a testament to strength, resilience, humor, and love for his family. His legacy will live on through the many lives he touched and the memories cherished by those who knew and loved him.
