Eugenia Ulrich Obituary

Eugenia K. Ulrich, a woman of grace, intellect, and spirit, passed away peacefully on Jan. 30, 2026, at the age of 90.
Born on Jan. 7, 1936, in Flint, Eugenia was the beloved daughter of the late Harold and Frances (Brandt) Ulrich. While her roots were in Flint, she found her true home in East Tawas, where she spent the majority of her adult life and became a familiar face in the community.
Eugenia was defined by her elegance and her deep connection to animals. An excellent equestrian, she mastered the demanding discipline of dressage. Her bond with her horses – particularly her beloved Arabian – was a cornerstone of her life. When she wasn't at the stables, she was often found in the company of her faithful Collies, a breed she loved and kept for many years.
A true lifelong learner, Eugenia was a voracious reader, remarkably finishing three to five books every week. Her curiosity about the world extended to her community and beyond.
Since 1988, she was a dedicated member of the Audubon Society, reflecting her love for nature. She was also an active and valued member of Quota Club, General Federation of Women's Club (GFWC), Women's Republican Club and Sunrise Side Lifelong Learning Club.
Eugenia had a restless, adventurous spirit and a love for travel. She frequently traded the Michigan snow for the warmth of California, where she spent many of her winter seasons.
She leaves behind a legacy of poise, a sharp wit, and a deep appreciation for the finer things in life – whether it was the perfect gait of a horse or the quiet turn of a page.

Dear Eugenia,
I remember you as a first grade classmate in East Tawas. Your little blonde head was close to a page you were reading or coloring. I never saw you again despite the many years we both spent in East Tawas. I was pleased to read of your active lifestyle and varied interests despite any visual issues. Perhaps you even read my book For Patriots Dream and remember when as Kindergartners we learned from our teacher miss Aplin, of the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor,December 7, 1941.
RIP my friend !
