Eula King-McGehee Obituary

Published by Legacy on Jul. 30, 2025.
The life journey of Eula Mae King-McGehee began on August 24, 1935, as the beloved daughter of Adolphus and Lydia King. Mrs. King-McGehee, who gracefully reached the age of 89, sang her last song as she marched to glory on July 10, 2025. She embodied sophistication and deep faith, serving as a devoted sister, mother, grandmother, and friend, leaving an indelible mark on the lives she touched.

Eula, affectionately known as Pee Wee, resided in Wolf Project, where she graduated from Wolf Project High School. She married Robert James McGehee, embarking on a journey together that led them to McGehee, Arkansas, and later to Reed, Arkansas, where they were blessed with seven children.

Her professional endeavors included employment at McGehee Industries as a seamstress, as well as working as a caregiver and nurturer in a daycare setting. Eula's commitment to her community was further exemplified through her volunteer work on the board of directors at Comprehensive Care. Eula's journey took her to Dallas, Texas, before she returned to Pine Bluff, Arkansas. She found solace and strength in her faith communities, initially at Bailey Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir, and later at Amos Chapel, then at Greater United Baptist Church. Ultimately, Eula embraced her final church home at the Empowerment People Ministries, under the leadership of her son, Apostle Robert James McGehee, Jr.

In her passing, Eula is reunited with her parents, Adolphus, Sr. and Lydia King, her beloved son, Jerry McGehee Sr., as well as her four sisters, Maple King-McClendon, Baby Sister Vernell King, Gloria King-Williams, and Nellie King-Munerlyn; four brothers, Adolphus King, Jr., Curtis King, Matthew King, Lee Edward King and Anderson King, all of whom she cherished dearly. Her legacy of love and strength is carried on by two sisters, Ethel Jones and Dorothy King-Wickware; one brother, Albert King, Sr.; six children: Robert J. McGehee Jr. (Alice), the late Jerry McGehee Sr. (Deborah), Catha A. McGehee-Hicks, Alonzodora McGehee (Debra), Parnell McGehee (Cassandra), Yarnell McGehee-Dunning (Kenneth), and Aundrietta McGehee; along with 25 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, and 8 great-great-grandchildren, who will continue to honor her remarkable legacy.

The family wishes to convey their heartfelt gratitude for the love, compassion, care, and support expressed by Aunt Azzie McGehee, Aunt Ella McGehee, Linda Crumpton, Jessie Bell, Cynthia Jackson, and Miyosha Reed.

The Homegoing Services will take place on Saturday, July 19, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Bailey Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, located at 121 South First Street, Reed, Arkansas. Interment will follow at Strickland Cemetery in McGehee, Arkansas. Her body will lie in state from 10:15 until the commencement of the service.
