Eula Mae Rhodes, 78, of Burnsville, Mississippi, died on Friday, May 23, 2025, at her home. Eula graduated from Burnsville High School in 1963 as the Class Secretary and furthered her education at Northeast MS Community College by getting a business degree. She dedicated her life to her career, faith, community, and family. Eula loved her job as a secretary and throughout the years worked for several lawyers, including Michael Cook, the TN Valley Authority at both the Yellow Creek and Bellefonte sites, and the USDA at the Booneville and Iuka locations, where she stayed until her retirement. She also acted as Secretary for the Burnsville Booster Club from 1981 until 1991 and for Rowland Mills Missionary Baptist Church. She was a very active, lifelong member of the church, being secretary and treasurer, playing piano, and teaching Sunday School. Eula loved people, kids especially, and was known for her kindness, generosity, and up-beat personality. She could talk to anyone and would give the shirt off her own back if someone needed it. She was always easy-going, happily joining her husband of 59 years, Virgil, in anything he wanted to do, like bowling, camping, fishing, and attending Gaither’s concerts. After getting married, they lived several years in Germany while he was in the Army. During her free time, Eula loved reading, playing piano, and most of all, spending time with her family.
Eula is survived by her beloved husband, Virgil Rhodes; her sons, Timothy Rhodes (Emma) and Jamie Rhodes (Jill); her grandchildren, Brittany Thomas (Mason), Nathan Barnes, and Grayson Rhodes; her great-granddaughter, Scarlett Thomas; her nieces and nephews, Carrie McRae (Nicky), Jerry Gray (Bridget), Angie Gray, and Ritchie Wilmeth; and a host of other loved family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Freda and Anison Gray; her brother, C.W. “Dub” Gray (Peggy); and her niece, Carolyn Wilmeth.
