Eunice Commet Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Rossell Funeral Home - Flushing on Feb. 16, 2026.
Commet, Eunice Elaine (Forgette), age 88, of Flushing, passed away on Saturday, February 14, 2026.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, February 20, 2026, at St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church. Father Brian Lenz will officiate. Burial will follow at Sunset Hills Cemetery. Family and friends will gather from 4-8 p.m. on Thursday, February 19, 2026 at Rossell Funeral Home, with a Rosary prayed at 7 p.m. Visitation will also be held from 10 a.m. on Friday at the church until the time of service.

Eunice was born on November 29, 1937 in Nadeau, Michigan. Her parents were Raymond and Mary (Verhaegen) Forgette. She came to Flint in February 1942 where she attended Holy Redeemer School and graduated from St. Matthew High School in 1955. She Married John Michael Commet on May 4, 1957. She attended Flint Junior College and worked in the Business Office of Michigan Bell Telephone for five years, after which she devoted herself to being a full time mother and homemaker. She had a special devotion to the Blessed Mother and tried to follow her example in the love and devotion she showed to her family. Eunice was an avid sports fan and never missed any event her children were involved in. She especially enjoyed coaching softball for her two daughter's teams in the Flushing Summer Leagues.

She is survived by her husband John and children Michael (Susan) Commet, Theresa Commet, Richard (Lynette) Commet, John (Jeannie) Commet, Mary (Martin) Smeltzer and James Commet. Also surviving her are 14 Grand Children and 16 Great Grand Children. Eunice was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Glovis, Phyllis and brother Thomas.

Special thanks to her long-time care givers Kathy Horton and Sue Maricle.

In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Robert Catholic School would be appreciated.
