Eunice Mary Spleiss

Eunice Mary Spleiss, age 95, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 25 with her daughter by her side at Benedictine in Osseo, MN.

Eunice Mary Weinand was born at St. Cloud Hospital on December 8, 1930 to Albert & Lucy (Heinen) Weinand. She went to Sartell Elementary School and St. Benedicts High School in St. Joseph, MN. She earned her bachelor's degree from St. Cloud State University. She taught school in Swanville, Donelly and Sauk Centre, MN. In 1954, she married Richard D. Hinman at St. Xaviers Church in Sartell. They had 3 children; James, Mary and Thomas.

While living in Sauk Centre, she was an officer in the Our Lady of Angels Christian Mothers and St. Michaels Hospital Auxiliary. In 1997, she retired from the Postal Services, as a postal Clerk in Albany and Anoka. She was a lifelong member of Auxiliary of Paul Donart Post 2853 and Legion Post 76, both in Sauk Centre. Outside of work, she found joy in going out to lunch, getting her nails done, spending time with her daughter, grandchildren, great grandchildren and her caregiver, Michele.

Eunice leaves behind daughter, Mary (Terry) McGovern, son, Thomas (Trudi) Hinman. Grandchildren; Jason, Sarah (Chad), Shawn (Rachel) McGovern, Eva Stokes, Denelle Cady, Weston Hinman, Catherine (Buck) Stecher, Amanda Hinman along with 14 Great Grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, son, James Hinman, husbands, Richard D. Hinman and Eldar G. Spleiss.

The last couple of weeks have been filled with joy, humor and strength as Eunice moved into Benedictine Living. She was a staple in that community in a very short time and love will continue to guide those fortunate enough to have shared in her life.
