Eunice Taylor Obituary

Eunice H. Taylor
Born: February 18, 1934 in Buffalo, NY
Died: June 13, 2023 in Joliet, IL
Eunice Hutton Taylor, 89, passed away peacefully after a brief but courageous battle with cancer on June 13, 2023. Her loving family was by her side.
Eunice is survived by her beloved husband John Taylor; her three children Tim (Teresa) Taylor, Dave (Alexandra) Taylor, and Jenny (Patrick) Crotty; her three grandchildren Jana (Nicholas) Krammer, Peter Taylor, and Johnny Taylor; her sister Carol (Ed/Scott) Woeppel; niece Lisa (Tom) MacLeay and nephew Brett (Christine) Walker. She was preceded in death by her parents Percy and Katherine Hutton, and her sister Lillian Hutton.
Eunice was a former Deaconess of the First Presbyterian Church in Joliet, as well as a member of Childerguild, St. Joseph and Silver Cross Hospital Auxiliaries. She graduated from Bennett High School in Buffalo, NY and attended the University of Buffalo until her father's untimely death cut short her dreams of becoming a nurse. She was a former member of Joliet Country Club, as well as Bonita Bay Club and Copperleaf Golf Club, the latter two being in southwest Florida. She proudly displayed her hole-in-one plaque from Bonita Bay (Marsh Course, 16th hole, 150-yard, par 3). She belonged to numerous bridge clubs and golf groups, where she made lifelong friendships. She was a wonderfully supportive wife, mother, and grandmother. She possessed a fine decorating flair. Eunice was a strong family leader with "firm opinions". She was well read, well traveled, and well lived. She was married for 63 years to her high school sweetheart John, and wintered in Bonita Bay, Bonita Springs, Florida for the last 22 years. She adored her children and grandchildren and was always there for them while they were growing up. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family.
Memorial Service is on Tuesday, June 20, at 2:00 pm at First Presbyterian Church, at 805 Western Ave., Joliet, IL. A Gathering & Celebration of Eunice's Life will follow from 3:00 to 5:30 pm at Mistwood Golf Club (Great Hall) at 1700 W Renwick Road, Romeoville, IL. A special thank you to the staff at Lightways Hospice for their compassionate care of Eunice. In lieu of flowers, memorials in her name to First Presbyterian Church or Lightways Hospice would be appreciated.
