Eva J. Bartram, age 94 of Massillon, Ohio passed away at 11:25 p.m. Friday, March 26, 2010 at Hanover House in Massillon. She was born June 29, 1915 in Elmwood, West Virginia to Roy and Ora (McCoy) Jividen. A 1935 graduate of Poca High School, in West Virginia, Eva earned her initial teaching certificate from Morris Harvey College in Charleston, WVA and attended Marshall University at Huntington WVA. After moving to Alliance, she earned a B.A. from Mount Union College. A former resident of Point Pleasant, West Virginia, she taught in Mason County Elementary schools for eleven years, before moving to Alliance where she taught second and third grades in the Alliance City Schools for twenty years, retiring in 1975. In 1964, Eva received the Honor Teacher Award from Kappa Delta Pi, a Stark County educational society. An active member of the Alliance First Baptist Church since 1956, she was a faithful member of the Fireside Class. In 2006, she received a certificate in recognition of her 50 years of church membership. Eva also belonged to Campus Circle at Mt. Union College. She is survived by her loving husband, Chester E. Bartram, whom she married Jan. 17, 1942; children, Dr. Chester E. Bartram Jr. of North Canton, Bart W. (Linda) Bartram of Middletown, Maryland, Joette (Larry) McCaw of Massillon, and Judy (David) Lundquist, of Canton; grandchildren, Anna, Mandy, Mark and Stacey Bartram, Debbie Ehrman, Liz Babb, Lisa Miller, Kathryne Sell, David Lundquist, Eric and John McCaw; eighteen great-grandchildren; brother, Arlin (Carma Lee) Jividen of Moundsville, W VA; sisters-in-law, Ruth Jividen of Columbus, OH, Doris Jividen of Wheelersburg, OH, and Lucille Jividen of Baltimore, OH. Preceding her in death were her parents, sister, Wilma (John) Kenyon, and brothers, Dale, Emile, and Vance Jividen. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 30, 2010 at the First Baptist Church with Pastor Gordon Thomas officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at Highland Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church, 1659 W. State St. Alliance, Ohio 44601.
