Eva Christie Obituary
New City - Eva (Cinquemani) Christie passed away with her family by her side on February 9, 2018 after a 30 year-long battle with Multiple Sclerosis. Eva was born in the Bronx on June 21, 1965, the daughter of John and Eva (Moretti) Cinquemani. She graduated from Clarkstown South High School Class of '83 and Mercy College. Eva moved with her family from the Bronx in 1971 to Bardonia. In 1989 she met the love of her life Rob Christie, and they were married on November 9, 1991 at St. Anthony's Shrine. Together they had one son Robert Jr., who they raised in New City. Eva was known for her beautiful smile and loving heart - it seemed that no one was able to leave her presence without giving her a kiss goodbye. Eva was a woman of strong faith and a devoted member of St. Augustine's Church. Though she was afflicted with MS from an early age, she did not let it define her. She would attend all of Robert's sporting events and loudly cheer him on. Her courage, fight and determination against this horrible disease was an inspiration to all who knew her. Eva loved to bake and was famous with family and friends for her delicious brownies - no party or event was complete without them.
Eva is survived by her husband Rob, son Robert (Corinne) of Danbury, CT, brothers John (Margaret) and Michael (Jackie), Sister-in Laws Patty Cinquemani, and Dawn (Oscar) Fernandes, Brother-in-Laws Jack (Cathy) Christie, Jeff (Isabel) Christie and George (Kelly) Christie and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents and beloved brother Frank. Eva was blessed to have wonderful caretakers in her life "daughter" Tenisha, Jessyka and Amelia. Great friends that she considered her sisters Debbie Bassani, Barbara Schmidt and Patty Regan, as well as her St. Augustine's family Marie, Cathy and Mary.
Family and friends may visit on Thursday, Feb. 15 from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM at Michael J. Higgins Funeral Home, 321 S. Main St., New City. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, Feb. 16 at 10AM at St. Augustine's RC Church in New City. Burial will follow at St. Anthony's Cemetery in Nanuet. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Tisch MS Research Center of New York. Please specify Eva's name on a note or in the memo section.
