Eva Bernadette Danmeyer, 95, passed peacefully from her Earthly life on February 12th, into the waiting arms of her husband, Lee Danmeyer, Son, Michael Danmeyer and a host of other loved ones and friends.
Born on November 24, 1930 to Elizabeth Warren and Michael Charles Larkins, Eva grew up in Baltimore City. Eva and Lee began their married life in Baltimore and later settled in
Salisbury, MD to raise their children. Eva and Lee later moved to Ocean City. She always loved the beach and ocean.
Eva was primarily a homemaker until entering the workforce in retail sales, specializing in ladies' clothing during her years working at Hecht Co., Benjamin's and Macy's. Eva always had a flair for fashion and could put a woman together in a stylish manner that would make heads turn. Eva also spent several years working as a hostess at Dumser's in Ocean City where she met and worked with her best friend, Maureen Cornell.
Eva eventually retired to Florida, enjoying over two decades in the Sunshine State before returning to her native Maryland where she would be closer to family. After a decline in her health last year, Eva resided at the Macky and Pam Stansell House in Ocean Pines and the Berlin Nursing and Rehab Center. Eva's family is very grateful for the compassionate care she received at both places. Eva's family is deeply thankful for some special people who visited or regularly kept in touch with Mom, including her loving niece, Tammy Hucks, Ronnie Nelson, and Greg and Debbie Denson. She loved Ronnie and Greg like her own sons as she did Brig Hart (Lita) for his kind support during her years in Florida. A huge thank you goes to Karen Nickerson for taking in Mewli, Eva's feline companion of 15 years whom she rescued as a kitten.
In addition to her parents, husband, and son, Mike, Eva was preceded in death by her siblings, Albert Rigor, Paul Anthony Rigor, Paul Thomas Rigor, Paula and O.R. Roberts, Barbara and Randall Harris, and June Kern. Her stepfather, Paul Rigor, stepmother, Evelyn Ivanak, and special nephew, Jimmy Stewart also preceded Eva in death.
Left with memories of Eva, Mom, Maudie, Granny, or GiGi, as she was known, are a dear stepson, Bob Danmyer (Leslie), her devoted daughters, Shari Scheuermann (Lenny) and Kathy Decker (Harold "Deck"), and beloved daughter-in-law, Michele Mitchell. Eva loved her grandchildren with all her heart. Cherishing her memory are Lance Danmyer, Christopher Decker, Joe Decker (Erin), and Kacey Decker-Ulchak (Jeffrey). Eva adored her great-grandsons Aaron Decker (Megan), Kevin Decker, and Ramsey Decker, who stole GiGi's heart. She was looking forward to the birth of Baby Boy Ulchak this summer. GiGi was thrilled to meet and hold her great-great granddaughter, Elizabeth Decker, on two occasions before she passed. Surviving siblings include sister Elizabeth "Dolly" Lewis and brothers Ed and Mark (Judy) Rigor and a dearly loved brother-in-law, Bob Kern. There are many nieces, nephews, and special friends who were loved by Eva through the years. You all know who you are.
A Celebration of Eva's Life will be announced at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to Operation We Care, 100 Lloyd St.
