Eva Evans Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by McNutt Funeral Home - Conroe on Apr. 9, 2025.
It is with heavy a heart that we announce the passing of Eva Evans, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, who left us on April 6, 2024. Eva's life was one of perseverance, love, and dedication to family, education, and self-sufficiency. She was 84 years old just shy of her 85th birthday, April 22nd.
Eva was born in Cotulla, Texas, to Genaro and Geronima Garza where she was one of eleven children. At the young age of 14, her father passed away and Eva dropped out of high school and became a migrant worker, she carried with her the hopes and dreams of her family. Education was always at the core of Eva's vision, and she worked hard to achieve her goal of becoming a cosmetologist, she later went on to obtain her ISP Counselor degree. This achievement was a testament to her relentless drive and commitment to bettering herself and those around her.
Eva moved her family from the barrio of Houston to Tomball, Texas, to provide better educational opportunities for her children. Here she and her husband, Steve Evans, built a home filled with love, laughter, and wisdom. Married for 53 years, Eva and Steve shared a deep and unwavering bond. Steve's passing in 2021, left a void in her heart, but Eva carried on with the same strength that she had always shown.
Eva instilled in her children the values of hard work, determination, and self-sufficiency. She taught them not only the importance of education but also how to budget and make ends meet. She did this by always having a side hustle, buying and selling all kinds of items such as toys, glassware, and other goodies. Through her example, her children learned the value of resilience and compassion.
Eva was known for her warm heart and her ability to bring people together. Her home was always open, and her kindness knew no bounds. She will be remembered not only for her incredible work ethic but also for the way she loved unconditionally, never asking for anything in return.
Eva leaves behind her children, Raquel and husband Tim Leiker, Raicko and wife Julie Evans, Rebecca and husband Charles Reed, grandchildren, Evan and his wife Lauren, Kayli, Joshua and his wife Steffany, David, Jonathan, and Daryl; great-granddaughters: Tessa and Nova; and a host of friends and family who were fortunate enough to know her. She has touched many lives, and her legacy will live on through the lessons she taught and the love she shared.
Eva is preceded in death by her parents, Genaro and Geronima Garza, her husband, Steve Evans, her siblings, Juanita Garza, Andres Garza, Delfino Garza, and Maria Sripland, her granddaughter, Ariel Tapscott.
Her family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to all who supported Eva throughout her life.
Rest in peace, Eva, Mom. Your strength, love, and wisdom will never be forgotten.
