Eva Jackson Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Davenport's Chapel of the Good Shepherd - Klamath Falls on Jan. 28, 2026.
In the early morning hours of January 19, 2026, with her great niece Tammy Harrison by her side, the Lord opened his loving arms and gently welcomed Eva into heaven. Although she did not have her electric guitar, her voice filled the heavens and the angels sang with her as she was welcomed home-a place she worked her whole life to be part of.

Eva was born on May 29, 1923, in Eureka Springs, Arkansas, to Raymond and Doris (Gilbert) Hilton. She was the fourth of seven children and the last sibling to leave this earth. Whenever the siblings gathered, their reunions were marked by joy, laughter, and wonderful food. The Hilton children truly knew how to have a great time together.

On October 5, 1950, Eva married Leon Jackson in Cassville, Missouri. Together, they raised three sons-David, Ronald, and Donald-in Tulelake, California, on Hill Road. Eva was often found tending her garden, which overflowed with vegetables and flowers that would make even Martha Stewart envious. Each year, she canned at least 100 quarts of green beans, along with other produce from her garden. Eva's home was always filled with delicious dishes and no visitor ever went hungry.

Her hands were never idle. She sewed shirts for her boys and husband, made her own clothes or remodeled those she bought, and created beautiful quilts. Eva enjoyed crocheting, crafting pine needle baskets, and tackling a variety of other creative projects. She was always willing to lend a hand, whether it was reroofing a house, fixing an automobile, or remodeling part of a home.

Throughout her life, Eva held many jobs, including sorting potatoes and cleaning establishments. However, her favorite role was serving her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She was an active member of the Tulelake Assembly of God Church and later, Calvary Temple in Klamath Falls. Eva's musical talents shone as she sang and played guitar in church services and was an integral part of the choir. She prayed fervently for friends and family, and everyone could count on Grandma Jackson to speak directly to Jesus for an extra prayer. She taught her loved ones how to share their troubles with the Lord, trusting in His care.

Eva was always eager to learn new things. She taught herself piano while caring for her husband and continually worked to perfect the other instruments she played. She also studied computers, navigating Facebook and email to keep in touch with loved ones and enjoy their photos and messages.

After Leon's passing, Eva moved to Klamath Falls and settled into a smaller home. She found companionship with her neighbor and fellow parishioner, Hubert Aldinger, and became a beloved part of his family. Although they never married, Eva considered Hubert's children and grandchildren her own and enjoyed many family activities together. Every summer, her home featured an elaborate flower display, and even at 102 years old, she still mowed her lawn-sometimes taking all day, but loving every moment. Hubert's family continued to make sure she was safe and cared for in her later years.

Despite experiencing sadness and heartache throughout her long life, Eva never complained and always found a positive perspective in everything the Lord provided. She will be deeply missed, seen in the everyday lives of those who loved her, and her example will continue to inspire. All who knew her are truly blessed.

Eva was predeceased by her parents, her husband, and her three sons. She is survived by her special daughter-in-law Sherry Jackson (Ron's wife), who was her constant helper and confidant over the past three years, and daughter-in-law Nancy Jackson (Donald's wife). Her grandsons include Jay Jackson (Carol) and family, Doug Jackson (Lisa) and family, Dan Jackson (Suzi) and family, and Kenny Jackson (Sara) and family. Eva leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and friends who considered her a mother and grandmother.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to Margaret, Alicia, and Becky for their care and love during Eva's final days.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, February 14, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Calvary Temple, 2161 Garden Avenue, Klamath Falls, Oregon. A potluck will follow immediately after the service. Attendees are invited to bring a side dish to share.

In lieu of flowers the family would like a donation to be made to Calvary Temple.
