Eva May McMillan Obituary

Eva May McMillan, peacefully passed away on November 12, 2025, in Columbus, Indiana, at the age of 94. Born on August 17, 1931, in Scipio, Indiana, to the late Linuel T. "Ted" Foist, Sr. and Eva Foist, her life was one rich with love, creativity, and service.

Eva May's commitment to her community was evident through her dedicated work history. Serving as a Clerk-Treasurer for both Edinburgh and Columbus for many years, she was a familiar and trusted face to many within these towns. Her professional journey also saw her bringing organization and care to roles at the Edinburgh Outlet Mall office, Tri-County Enterprises, and the Columbus Inn.

Eva May was a woman of many talents and interests. Her creative spirit shone brightly in her hobbies, which included both decorating and flower arranging. Her culinary skills were relished by her family and friends, as she was a wonderful cook. As a skilled seamstress, she crafted an array of beautiful items with her hands. Furthermore, her leadership and compassion were felt by many as she guided young minds in her role as a Girl Scout Leader, serving as a mentor and advocate for growth and learning.

Her family was the heart of Eva May's world. She is survived by her grandsons, Nathan Gabbard and Jeff (Robin) Gabbard; her granddaughter, Crystal Gabbard; her sister, Eileen (Michael) Bennett; her great-grandson, Ziah; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph S. McMillan; her daughter, Cynthia Gabbard; her brother, Linuel T. "Bud" Foist, Jr., and her sister and brother-in-law, Mary Alice (Douglas) Muellenberg.

Describing Eva May without the words 'creative' and 'loving' would be an incomplete portrait of her essence. Her creativity was not just a hobby but a fundamental aspect of who she was-every room she entered was left more beautiful for it. Love was the language she spoke most fluently, with every action and word from her heart touching the lives she encountered.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday November 21, 2025 at Jewell-Rittman Funeral Service with Rev. Dr. Felipe N. Martinez officiating. Following the service, she will be laid to rest in Garland Brook Mausoleum. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and on Friday from Noon until the service at the funeral home. Memorial Contributions may be made to First Presbyterian Church or Turning Point Women's Shelter through the funeral home.
