Eva Iris Hinson Navarro

Eva Iris Hinson Navarro, 76, died Sunday evening (November 23, 2014) at Loving Care Facility in St. Augustine FL following an extended illness. She was a native of Waycross where she had lived until making her home in Thomaston, GA from 1978 until moving to St. Augustine, FL in 2004. She was the daughter of the late Norman E.Hinson and Eva Irene Johnson DeLoach Hinson. She was also preceded in death by 3 brothers, John M. "Pete Hinson", Norman E. "Bo" Hinson, and Charles Woodrow Hinson, and a sister-in-law Rosalind Hinson. She earned an Associate of Nursing Degree (Registered Nurse) from South Georgia College in Douglas, GA and a Nurse Anesthetist Degree from Duke University in North Carolina in 1974. She served on staff with Duke University Hospital from 1974 until 1978. She later retired from Macon Medical Center of Macon, GA in 1997. Besides her desire to care and minister to others through nursing she loved and was admired by her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She was a member of Silvertown Baptist Church in Thomaston. While residing in Waycross, Iris was an active member of Crawford Street Baptist Church. Survivors include a daughter, Toni Danette Navarro Kellerman of St. Augustine, FL, a son, Taft Daniel Navarro (wife Susan) of Summerville, SC, a daughter­in-­law, Nanette Navarro of Louisville, KY; four grandchildren, Jacob Hinson Kellerman (wife Dianna) and Lauren Marie Kellerman of St. Augustine, FL, Logan Navarro and Joshua Navarro of Louisville, KY; three great grandchildren, Mya Noelle Oxendine, Dennis Elijah Oxendine, and Ruby Rose Navarro; two sister-in-law's, Carol Janet Hinson Dyal (husband Delmas) and Florence Hinson Bowman of Waycross, and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. In lieu of flowers the family request that memorial donations be made to Loving Care Facility, P.O. Box 588, St. Augustine, FL 32085­0588. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M.Saturday (December 13, 2014) at Music Funeral Home Chapel.Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery.
