Eva Wiley Obituary
Obituary published on Legacy.com by Bell's Funeral Home & Cremation Services - Lauderdale Lakes on Sep. 8, 2025.
With hearts full of love and gratitude, we celebrate the life of Eva Pearl Wiley, a radiant soul, and a cherished
pillar of her family and neighborhood. Born in Glennville, Georgia on Saturday, September 19, 1936, to the
late Clarence Williams Sr. and Eva Mae Williams. Eva Pearl transitioned peacefully into the presence of the
Lord on August 27, 2025, with her loving daughter, Sherry, at her bedside.
For the first part of her childhood, Eva Pearl was raised by her great-grandparents, Fred and Florence Douglas,
who were once enslaved Black Americans. Her early years were marked with a natural ability to bring joy to
those around her. Eva Pearl received her primary and secondary education in Tattnall County School District.
In 1953, she met a young man named Roosevelt Mincey from Manassas, Georgia and fell in love after several
months of courtship. They joined in holy matrimony in May 1954, and to this union, six children were born:
Marie, Doris, Linda, Ronald, Sherry and Elvis Mincey. Sadly, Marie passed away at the young age of two
years old.
In 1966, Eva Pearl packed up her house along with her seven children and moved to Stuart, Florida. In Stuart,
she worked various jobs throughout the years until she was hired at Martin Memorial Hospital in hospitality.
She took pride in her work and became close friends with her co-worker, Ms. Johnny Pearl Jackson.
In 1976, Eva Pearl met Willis Wiley of Jensen Beach, Florida and, in February 1981, they were married until
his passing in 2000. Willis introduced Eva to Bahamian food and other fascinating things about the Bahamian
culture. Her grandchildren affectionally called him, Papa.
Eva Pearl is known for her boundless love for Christ, family, friends and everyone she encountered. It did not
matter about their background she only saw their soul. She gave quietly and generously, never seeking
attention. Whether it was a mouth-watering homecooked meal, a thoughtful gift, or her mere presence of
support, she sewed seeds of kindness wherever she went.
In 1992, Eva received Christ as her Savior and joined Port Salerno Church of God under the leadership of
Bishop Glenford Hutchinson. She was humble, caring and took pride in worshipping the Lord, no matter
where she was. It was not unusual to find scriptures in the nooks and crannies of her home. Eva enjoyed going
to church and giving God glory in every situation.
Eva relished the attention she received as the matriarch of the Williams & Mincey families. Her family spans
five generations, and she was the root that kept the tree from losing its branches. She loved family gatherings,
whether it was for a holiday, BBQ or fish fry, she liked seeing the family together laughing and dancing. Eva
enjoyed cooking, shopping, gardening, spoiling the grandkids, and speaking her mind and keeping it real with
everyone.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Clarence Williams Sr. and Eva Mae Williams; three sons, Kenny
Mincey, Dorsey Mincey and Jimmy Fate; two daughters, Marie Mincey and Beverly Mincey; husband, Willis
Wiley Sr.; sister, Dorothy Williams; brothers, Lonnie Williams, Clarence Williams Jr. and Billy Jo Williams;
great-grandson, Jamie Peterson.
She leaves a legacy of love and faith in the hearts of her sons, Ronald (Frankie) Mincey, Elvis Mincey and
Devey (Kim) Fate; daughters, Doris (Carl) Robinson, Linda Howard and Sherry Bruce; two granddaughters
she raised, Trequiela Carter and Shakenya Harris; sister, Hattie Mae Eason; special nephew, Detawn Moore;
Godson, Tito Washington; Goddaughters, Kim Trimble and Angie Trimble; special friends (like a daughter),
