Evalina Whitlatch

Evalina Pauline Whitlatch, affectionately known to all as Shirley, passed away peacefully on October 18, 2025, at Liza's Place in Wheeling at the age of 87. Born on October 14, 1938, in Shady Spring, West Virginia, Shirley lived a life that was both rich in love and dedicated to the service of others.

For nearly three decades, Shirley exemplified diligence and commitment in her work with the Central Supply department at Reynolds Memorial Hospital. Her hard work and dedication earned her the respect and admiration of her colleagues. In addition to her hospital duties, she was also a talented beautician, cherished by her longstanding and loyal clientele who came not just for her skill, but also for her warmth and kindness.

Beyond her professional life, Shirley had an array of interests that brought joy both to her and those around her. She had a passion for crafts, sewing, and crocheting, creating beautiful handmade treasures that will be cherished by her family for generations. She also enjoyed delving into crossword puzzles and reading, always eager to learn something new.

However, Shirley's true heart lay with her family. She was a devoted mother to her children, Kurt, William, Dixie, and Robert, and found immense joy in the company of her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They were her world, and she was theirs-a constant source of love and inspiration. Her lifelong friend, Joanne "Josie" Bonar, and countless others who had the privilege to know her, will remember her fondly.

A woman of faith, Shirley was a Christian who lived her beliefs through acts of kindness and generosity. Though preceded in death by her loving parents, Charles William "Pee Po" and Cassie Lena (Smith) Warner, her sister Adrian Brewer, and grandson Austin Taylor, her legacy of love endures in the hearts of those she leaves behind.
