Evans Jose Cesspooch, of Randlett, and formerly of The Colony Texas, lived 86 years on mother earth He departed October 14, 2024, just 2 days after his birthday to a happier place where he can use his arms and legs like before; where he can be happy, the way he wanted.
He was born October 12, 1938 in Ft. Duchesne, Utah to Ramon Raymond and Bessie Saknikent Cesspooch. He was the second oldest of 13 children.
Evans lived most of his adult life away from the U & O Reservation. He went to high school in Santa Fe New Mexico where he learned his trade as a welder. Later he was part of a relocation program; where he went to Dallas Texas at the young age.
Evans spoke of his younger days driving cattle to the mountains for grazing. They slept on the ground up against their saddles. Evans stayed with his grandmother Lupita and he enjoyed helping her.
In Dallas he met his wife, Madeline Webb of Santa Cruz, Gila River Arizona. They were married over 50 years and together raised 3 kids. Joseph Ray, Christine and Michael Anthony. She died June 29, 2009.
Evans worked as a welder in Dallas. While working at Pearless Manufacturing he was part of building the worlds 1st largest dump truck. It was so impressive that is was put into the Guinness World of Record Book. He was a good provider. He was wise in buying his house at an early age.
The family traveled Gila River Arizona and Utah visiting family throughout the years.
After her retired he stayed busy for hours with his wood work and welding. He made things from bookcases to tool drawers for his machinery. He also made stools, barn wood picture frames and keepsake boxes. The family found out about his talent and he continued to do various items like toy boxes and coffee tables. He spent endless hours in his garage/shop working on projects.
Evans enjoyed the outdoors, fishing on his boat, or fly fishing, going on a drive to the mountains and spotting wildlife and going on picnics. In his younger years he came home to hunt deer with his brothers and with his daughter.
When his daughter lived in Colorado they traveled up Mount Evans to see mountain goats, bald eagles, elk and big horn sheep.
Evans took endless pictures on many occasions, and also fun pictures of his grandkids and other family members.
He came back to Randlett to live with his daughter Christine. When asked, he would sometimes tell people he was “just visiting” after 6 years.
He will be missed endlessly by his children, Joseph Cesspooch, The Colony, Texas; Christine Cesspooch, Randlett. He will always be grandpa to Danny, Katy, Texas; Alicia, The Colony, Texas; and great grandpa, to Wren, Katy, Texas. He was bro to his siblings, Vina Make, Union City, CA: Curtis Cesspooch, Hilltop; Woodrow Cesspooch, Randlett; Rudy Cesspooch, SLC; Ramald, Guzman, Melvin Cesspooch, both of Randlett; Loratta Mojado, Ft. Duchesne, and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends..
He is preceded in death by his parents, siblings, Ophelia Boja, Lucinda Cesspooch, Judy Come At Night, Bryson Cesspooch, Adrian Cesspooch and Everett Cesspooch.
The family can’t express enough a thank you to Rose Mahkewa for her unconditional care and support, the Senior Center and the U & O Indian health center and their staff. Also the EMT responders who helped assit him in any way. A big thank you to Painted Horse staff and drivers and the dialysis advocate Jessica Jenks who advocated for Evans and was so supportive.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 23, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. at the Hullinger Mortuary. Following the services he will be cremated.
