JOHNSON CITY - It is with heavy hearts, the family of Evelyn Marie O'Kelley Baker, 91, announce her passing at NHC Healthcare of Johnson City on February 12, 2024.
We know she is now rejoicing in the presence of her Lord and Savior. She was of the Baptist faith. Evelyn was so many things to her family, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She enjoyed showering her family with love. Her laughter was contagious. She had a great sense of humor, and she shared it with everyone. Her wit and charming personality was unlike any other.
Evelyn is preceded in death by her parents; Andrew O'Kelley Sr. and Hazel Humphrey O'kelley Smitherman; husband, Leon Baker Sr.; her beloved daughter, Brenda Hyder, son-in-law, Dave Hyder; brothers, Jackie Lebron, Andrew, and Earnest O'Kelley; sisters, Vera Mae Collins, and Barbara Miller.
She is survived by her son, Leon Baker Jr., and wife Kathy; grandson, Eric. L. Baker and wife Crystal; great-grandson, Jonathan P. Baker.
The family wishes to thank the staff of NHC of Johnson City, station 3 and 4, for their love and care of Mrs. Evelyn.
Evelyn was laid to rest beside her loving husband Leon, in a private ceremony at Washington County Memory Gardens.

Evelyn was such a sweetheart. No matter what kind of day it was at NHC, you could step into her room on 3 and be certain to leave with a smile on your face. We'll miss her and her sweet son and daughter in law.

Ms.Evelyn was a wonderful friend and room mate to my mother at NHC. We loved her and her family like they were our family. Ms Evelyn was a wonderful and funny lady. She kept us laughing. She will surely be missed Ashley always took her a chocolate milkshake
