Evelyn's Memorial Video
Evelyn Marie Bromwell, age 84 of New London, passed away on Friday, December 20, 2024 at ThedaCare in Appleton. Evelyn was born on October 23, 1940 in Oshkosh to the late Leo and Evelyn (Schneider) Ruedinger. She married Wynn Dobberstein Sr. on October 10, 1959 and they remained married until his death in September 1989. Together they raised their family in Greenville. They also fostered 15 children. She helped start the Lioness' Club in Greenville. Evelyn enjoyed hunting, fishing, archery and simply being outdoors. She was also a 4-H leader for 10 years. Evelyn enjoyed watching airplanes with her grandchildren when they were young and many Appleton Foxes games. She then married William "Dave" Bromwell on October 11, 1995. To further her love of baseball, she and Dave became season ticket holders and part-owners of the Timber Rattlers. Evelyn ran the New London, Hortonville and Waupaca County Senior Centers, along with Meals On Wheels. He preceded her in death in December 2024.
Evelyn is survived by her son, Wynn (Monica) Dobberstein; daughter-in-law, Dawn (Joe) Tuchscherer; step-children, Wanda (Kirk) Jones, Sandy (Steve) Schwab, Bonnie Hanson and Dan Bromwell; grandchildren, Robin (Greg), Nicole, Amber, Crystal (Javier), Jeremy (Kate) and Nathan (Desirae) and great-grandchildren, Justin, Gabi, Isaac, Cam, Milo, Kendra, Layla and Walker. She is further survived by her step-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents and husband, Dave, Evelyn was preceded in death by her first husband, Wynn Dobberstein; son, Brian Dobberstein; grandson, Will; sister, Shirley Thyssen; brother, Bob and three infant children, Will, Sherri and Scott.
The Funeral Service for Evelyn will be held at 11:00 on Thursday, January 2, 2025 at Trinity Lutheran Church in New London with Re. Chuck Thompson officiating. The visitation will take place from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be in Union Cemetery, Hortonville.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Trinity Terrace, Monarch Meadows of New London, ThedaCare Appleton 3rd floor nurses and doctors and hospice nurse, Chris for the wonderful care given to Evelyn.
