To My Dear Godmother Evelyn,
This is my second attempt to sign this book, so here goes!
Well, how is it at your new home? Beautiful? Please always keep a close pace with those angels, with Michael as the leader, or course. I am sure with you there Michael will ALWAYS try to make sure he is keeping everything in correct pace.
A few things came to mind:
remember in the second floor apartment at Grandma's and how you would put the plants in the tub to water them? And then very patiently you would show Tommy and me how to polish each and every leaf? And were you the one who had to get winded blowing up that blue pool in the backyard? I hope you weren't the lucky one! But the Alphabet soup was the greatest; and sometimes, it was star soup. And the day of the Ketchup I am sure you wanted to laugh but you didn't. I remember how Tommy and I would wait every afternoon near the gate to watch for Mary Anne to come around the corner from school. We loved when we saw her appear! And then there is 1968, with Nelson, Catherine and Pennsylvania on the bus. I will never forget what you told me about the 1982 experience the night before my surgery. See? Now you can thank all responsible IN PERSON.
Well, my dear Aunt. We will see you soon.
Thank you for everything as a little one and as an adult!
Love always,
Christine xoxo

DEAR MARY ANNE,
AT THIS MOST PAINFUL TIME, THERE ARE SO FEW WORDS THAT CAN COMFORT YOU. I KNOW BECAUSE I WENT THROUGH IT SOME YEARS AGO. IT SEEMED LIKE THE WORST TIME OF MY LIFE. IN TIME, THINGS WILL BECOME MORE TOLERABLE. YOU HAVE BEEN VERY FORTUNATE TO HAVE HAD A MOTHER WHO LOVED YOU SO MUCH AND WHOM YOU LOVED AS WELL. HER BEAUTIFUL MEMORY WILL KEEP HER SPIRIT ALIVE FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE. I ONLY WISH THAT I HAD KNOWN HER.
WITH MUCH LOVE,
CARL
