A August 9, 2025 Evelyn Helen (Neske) Disse, at the age of 96, peacefully passed on to be reunited in Heaven with her beloved husband Earl to continue their never ending love for one another.

Evelyn was born at home in Toad Lake Township on December 25, 1928 to John and Helen (Griffnow) Neske. She attended country school in Toad lake Township District 23 through 8th grade.

Evelyn spent very nearly her entire life on the family farm, where she worked tirelessly and became a true model of resilience, strength and devotion. Learning how to care for animals and work the land at a very young age was a way of life which was deeply rooted in her. Evelyn was 16 at the time her father John passed away in 1945, leaving her to continue working the farm side-by-side with her mother Helen and younger sister Irene. The tenacity shown by the 3 women is immeasurable as they succeeded in not only maintaining the farm on their own, but doing well enough to allow them to live comfortably. They raised cattle, sold cream, had chickens and kept a large garden. They maintained their necessary crops using only horses as they never had a tractor.

Evelyn married the love of her life Earl Henry Disse on February 7, 1959. Shortly after, they purchased Evelyn's family farm from her mother Helen. Evelyn and Earl then worked the farm and built their life together, side-by-side for the next 63 beautiful years, a testament to the enduring love they shared. Through their years they farmed crops, raised turkeys and sheep and milked a herd of Jersey and Guernsey cows. Even after the milk cows were sold and the couple began to slow down in their later years, Evelyn had and would always keep her own small herd of 8 to 10 Angus cattle. At the age 93 she kept a tiny herd of 4 cows right up until the day came that she was no longer able to stay on the farm alone.

Evelyn and Earl, having no children of their own, welcomed the regular visits of her nieces and nephews. The children brought joyful chaos into the couple's home, creating a warm and welcoming place where cherished memories were made and a strong family bond was formed which lasted a lifetime.

Evelyn and Earl were inseparable, there was never just Earl or just Evelyn, whatever they did they did together side-by-side, from daily tasks to visiting neighbors, they never missed a birthday, graduation, wedding or any chance to spend time with family and friends. They enjoyed caring for their beautiful flower garden, and large vegetable garden, as well as donating their time maintaining the Zion Lutheran Cemetery for many years.

Their story is a beautiful and enduring example of partnership, profound strength found in shared labor and mutual respect, being a testament to unwavering commitment. They shared a life well lived, a life built together one sun-drenched day at a time.

Evelyn is survived by her nephews and nieces; Gary (Diane) Hensel, Joan Hensel (Dale), Karen (Bret) Holtan, Dean Hensel, Gail (Jim) Kalla. As well as 3 great nieces, 5 great nephews, 4 great-great nieces and 8 great-great nephews.

Preceded in death by husband Earl Disse, parents John and Helen Neske, sister Irene Hensel, brother-in-law Martin Hensel, infant brother Vernon Neske, great nephew Caleb Holtan.

Funeral services are at Gethsemane Lutheran Church in Osage, MN on Friday, August 22, 2025 at 11:00 AM with visitation for 1 hour prior. Interment will be held at Zion Lutheran Cemetery by Toad Lake.
