Evelyn Verie Dunlap, age 90 of
Butler, Missouri departed this life on September 26, 2025 just three days prior to her 91st birthday. She was born September 29, 1934 to William John and Polly Philipine Diehl Fennewald near Pleasant Gap, Missouri.
Evelyn lived in the Pleasant Gap and Butler areas all her life on a dairy farm. She attended Scifers School eight years and graduated from Appleton City High School with the Class of 1952. After high school, Evelyn worked at the Butler Hospital and Special Lens plant and was Janitor at Butler Motors from 1998 to 2006. As a teenager, she gave her life to Christ and was a member of Happy Hill Church of God. Evelyn was a faithful worker in the church and was a Sunday school teacher for over 40 years as long as her health permitted. Evelyn met the love of her life and on February 1, 1953 she was married to Alton Joseph Dunlap, and to this union two children were born–Judy Kay and Ronald Dean.
Evelyn was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great grandmother. Evelyn loved her family and was always ready to lend a helping hand. She prayed daily for her family that they would live for the Lord. Evelyn liked to make hot rolls, chicken and noodles, cinnamon rolls, and peanut butter quickies for her family. She loved family get-togethers. Evelyn liked to make all kinds of crafts and silk flower arrangements. She attended many craft shows.
Evelyn leaves to morn her passing a son, Ronald Dean Dunlap and wife Debbie of
Butler, Missouri; son-in-law, Philip Schapeler of
Butler, Missouri; five grandchildren that she loved, Mandy Dunlap of
Butler, Missouri, Mark Schapeler of
Butler, Missouri, Matthew Schapeler and wife Kristin of Union Star, Missouri, Jeffrey Dunlap and wife Christy of
Butler, Missouri and Monte Schapeler of
Butler, Missouri; 13 great-grandchildren, Andrew Clutter, Nicholas Clutter, Jaxon Dunlap, Molly Kate Dunlap, Adrienne Kimball and husband Carl, Kennedy Green and husband Hunter, Grant Griffin and wife Mirsadeez, Lukas Peak, Korbyn Peak, Kroy Preston Wyckoff, Landry Wyckoff, Kennison Wyckoff and Lainey Kay Wyckoff; eight great-great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends. Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, William and Polly Fennewald; her loving husband, Alton Dunlap in 1998, a daughter, Judy Schapeler in 2020; a sister, Areta Schapeler; and several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. Evelyn will be sadly missed by those who loved her.
