Evelyn Marie Hope-Jones, a Beloved Mother, Grandmother, and Sister, passed away on October 26, 2025, at the age of 94. She maintained incredible health, beauty, and a generous spirit throughout her entire life. Evelyn’s many friends and family will miss her dearly.
Evelyn grew up on a farm in Lyndon, Kansas. As part of a large family, she helped care for her younger siblings and even worked odd jobs to help her parents financially. She learned the value of hard work at an early age. Her Family is very grateful for her example and sacrifices.
Evelyn married Jim Hope in 1949, shortly after graduating from high school. She was a loving and caring mother to their two children. She also had a successful career with the Santa Fe Railroad as an executive secretary until she retired.
Evelyn was very athletic and an avid Skier. She also loved to square dance and travel. Most of all, she loved being with her family. She loved spending time with her kids, Grandkids, and great-grandkids. Her laugh, hugs, and loving personality will be missed by everyone who knew her. Evelyn will be remembered for her warm heart, her dedication to family, and the love she shared so freely with everyone she knew.
Those left to cherish her memory are: Son, Terry Hope (Dawn), Brothers Kenneth Sloop, Dale Sloop (Pat), Arlon Sloop (Frances), Sisters Norma Miller (Gary), and Kathy Tevis (Don), as well as 11 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, Lyle and Berneita (Fanning) Sloop; Daughter Jima Morrisey; Sisters Jean Burns-Johnson; Eula Nitcher; Infant Sister Rose Ann Sloop; Brothers LD Sloop, Bill Sloop, and Donny Sloop; Grandchildren Caressa Nelson, Laura Lee VanDong, Michal Stadler.
The family will receive friends from 6-7 pm on Tuesday, November 4, 2025 at Parker-Price and Davidson Cremations and Funerals, 245 NW Independence, Topeka Kansas 66608. On Wednesday, Nov. 5th, funeral services will begin at 10:00 am. Interment will be in the Melvern Cemetery on Wednesday afternoon at 2:00 pm. Please leave the family a message at www.ppdfuneral.com
