Evelyn C. Messerli, age 93, of Fairfield, beloved wife of 51 years to the late Joseph Messerli, passed away peacefully Friday, October 31, 2025. Born in Long Island City, NY, the daughter of the late Leslie and Juliette Field, she grew up in the Bronx and attended the High School of Music & Art. Her family would later move to Los Angeles, CA where she graduated from UCLA as an Art Major. Evelyn was employed in the Animation industry, mainly United Productions of America (UPA), the studio that created Mr. Magoo. She met her future husband, Joe there and they married in 1959. Evelyn was a Fairfield resident since 1978. She worked part-time at the Fairfield Public Children's Library for many years. She also worked on the staff at the Westport Public Library for 13 years. Evelyn was a member of the choir at St. Anthony of Padua Church. She volunteered at the Fairfield Senior Center and was active in the knitting group at Fairfield Woods Library. She will be dearly missed by three sons, Alan and his wife Beth and their daughters, Wendy, Sarah, Robin and Kathy, Don and his wife Regine and Evan and his wife Alana and their daughter Siena; a sister, Margaret Sigler of Northridge, CA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, December 6, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Anthony of Padua Church, 149 S. Pine Creek Road, Fairfield. Friends may greet the family Friday, December 5th from 5-7 p.m. in the Spear-Miller Funeral Home, 39 South Benson Road, Fairfield. In lieu of flowers, friends may consider a donation in Evelyn's memory to the Fairfield Public Library, 1080 Old Post Road, Fairfield, CT 06824.
