Evelyn M. Moretti, 96, of Auburn, formerly of Florida, passed away on January 11, 2026, at Auburn Community Hospital.
Born in Port Smith, R.I. on July 20, 1929, Evelyn was the daughter of the late Macy and Jesse Medeiros Lema.
She was previously employed as the branch manager of the credit union for GTE Sylvania in Batavia, N.Y. Evelyn had a strong faith and was a communicant of St. Alphonsus Church. She was an avid reader, typically finishing a book in just a couple of days. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting and word searches. Evelyn also had an eye for fashion and took pride in her appearance. Always dressing beautifully, even for a quick trip out of the house.
Evelyn is survived by her children, Stephen (Melody) Moretti and Chris (Sandy Schlicher) Moretti; her brother, Richard Lema; eight grandchildren and 13 great- grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Evelyn was predeceased by her husband, Louis Moretti; her daughter, Lynn Berhaupt, and her sisters, Beatrice and Irene.
Calling hours for Evelyn will be held on Thursday, January 15th, from 4 to 7 p.m. in White Chapel Funeral Home Inc., 197 South Street, Auburn N.Y. A funeral Mass will be Friday in Sacred Heart Church at 10 a.m. Evelyn will be entombed alongside her husband in Palm Bay, Fla.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Cayuga County Veteran Support Fund, 95 Genesee Street, 3rd Floor, Auburn, NY 13021.
