BLOOMINGDALE- Evelyn Maria Chamness Nixon, 85 of Bloomingdale, Indiana died at 11:29 pm Wednesday, October 6, 2010 at Union Hospital in Terre Haute. She was a homemaker, owner and operator of the Marshall Corner Store and was a regional sales manager of Avon Products. She was born May 12, 1925 in Hawthorne, California to the late Paul Oscar Emmanuel Loven and Hedvig Maria Justavson Loven. She is survived by her second husband of 12 years, Russell E. Nixon whom she married April 21, 1998; two sons, John Chamness and his wife Doris of Mooresville, Robert Chamness and his wife Sandy of Portland, OR; two daughters, Linda Chamness of Frankfurt, Germany, Nancy Chamness Easton of Homosassa, FL; six grandchildren, Jeffrey W. Chamness, Christopher M. Chamness, Lisa M. Crews, Amy R. Chamness Douthit, Meredith A. Cooke Lund, Kathryn B. Chamness; two great-grandchildren, Gabby Chamness and Evie Lund. She was preceded in death by her first husband of fifty-two years, Norval Chamness in 1995, one brother, Paul Loven and one great-granddaughter, Ellie Chamness. She was a 1942 graduate of Dorsey High School in Los Angeles. She was a member of the Crawfordsville American Legion and the Moose Lodge of Clinton. She volunteered for the Parke County Red Cross. She enjoyed crocheting, weaving and enjoyed playing cards. Services will be 2:00 pm Saturday, October 9, 2010 at Gooch Funeral Home, 112 West Howard St., Rockville with Rev. Don Perry officiating. Burial will follow services in Poplar Grove Cemetery, Marshall. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the funeral home.
