Evelyn K. Prochenski

Evelyn Prochenski, nee Kotlarz, age 90 passed away on September 24, 2025. Born in Chicago to the late Andrzej and late Anna Kotlarz, Evelyn was the youngest child, preceded in death by her sisters Anna, Estelle, Florence and Josephine.

Loving wife to the late Richard, beloved mother to Marie (Tom) Chapetta, Christine (Perry Nelson), Anthony (Maureen) and Richard (Krystyna), cherished Grandma to Anne (Paul) Hoerer, Kelsey (Eddie) Stahl, Katie (Mick) Viken, Anthony Prochenski. Adored Great Grandmother to Paul, Faith, Grace, Nick and Joey Hoerer and loving aunt to her nieces and nephews. She also shared a special friendship with her friend of 89 years Claudine.

Evelyn worked for many years as a legal secretary and did light bookkeeping. She was also one of the first female umpires in her sons Little League. After retirement, Evelyn became a Minister of Care and was a member of the Culinare's and Stewardship Committee for St. Stephen's church.

The best gift Evelyn gave her family was her faith in God. She instilled her belief into everyone she knew, praying her special prayers and the Rosary on a daily basis and was a faithful church goer. It was her faith that kept her anchored during the hard times in her life and was at peace with her God until the end.

Visitation will be Wednesday, October 8, 2025 from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm at G.L. Hills Funeral Home, 745 Graceland Avenue, Des Plaines. Funeral services will be Thursday, October 9, 2025 beginning with prayers at 9:15 am at the funeral home, and Mass at 10:00 am at St. Stephen Protomartyr Church, 1280 Prospect Avenue, Des Plaines.
