Evelyn B. Schaefer, born on January 27, 1930, in Washington, PA, passed away peacefully in her sleep on March 11, 2026. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister-in-law, and aunt, whose enduring legacy is cherished by her family and friends.
Evelyn is survived by her three children, Lynn (Bob) Knittel, Ursula Shufelt, and William (Diane) Schaefer. She took tremendous joy in her role as a grandmother to Cliff (Marcela) Knittel, Michael James (Ashley) Shufelt, and Daniel Shufelt, and further delighted in the love of her great-grandchildren: Angelina, Isabella, Hannah and Jacob. Additionally, her sister-in-law, Carol Brewer, and many nieces and nephews carry forward her spirit and memory.
Throughout her life, Evelyn nurtured diverse interests that brought her joy and connection with others. She enjoyed fishing with her friend Eleanor and found pleasure in driving around New York State, exploring various restaurants and sites in the company of her dear friends Eleanor and Mary Jones. These moments represented not just hobbies, but embodied the love and companionship that Evelyn cherished throughout her life.
Evelyn Schaefer's warmth and kindness will be profoundly missed. Her legacy will continue through the lives she touched, and her family will forever hold her in their hearts.
No services will be held at this time. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
